Meeting all the people I used to see in the 70s on stage has been a real exhilarating experience.  As
Corny as it sounds ,At times I feel like an Archeologist unearthing all these treasures that provide us
with all this new found information on a period in time that lived only in our hearts and minds until now.
This is a good place to thank all the people that have contributed photos and valuable information that
has allowed me to be the " curator" of this on line museum. Exciting things are happening because of
everyone's efforts, bands are reuniting . Miami is once again ours as it was back then . No longer do we
have to go out only to be " musically enslaved" (  a little dramatic ,I know ) by Hip Hop and other styles
that clash with the values we developed way back then. Now we can go out and support our own. The
men and women of The Miami Bands of the 70s.

Well enough about me.
What I remember from those days as a 16 year old kid in 10th grade in Miami Senior High was walking one
day home and cutting through a small one floor strip office space right across the street from Interamerican
Academy and seeing a sign posted on a window of that office space requesting "help wanted". Naturally I
walked in and asked what kind of help where they looking for? I was told that what they needed was a
person who knew about electronics and soldering and having an interest in electronics I was hired on the
spot and was asked to come back the next day at 7am to set up a sound stage system for a concert in the
Fountainbleu in Miami Beach for non other than Nelson Ned. I do recall that Eddy, the band leader for El
Conjunto Universal rehearsed there. They had a van that had the Conjunto Universal logo on both sides
and Eddy lived not to far from there. The place was small but it the needs were met. Julito who is short in
stature was always yelling at everyone day and night, but that is how he was. There was one person by the
name of Ramiro who I was always teamed up with then I was on my own and he left a short while later. As
far as a logo, yes they had one but it never occurred to me to take pictures of any kind so I have no record
of anything from that time period. I remember Julito working with two belt drive turntables and recording on
1/4" tape reel-to-reel and when me made a mistake mixing he would go back and over dub the mix and
continue from there on end. I left there to work on and off with Robert Norona at the Forrest Teen Disco

Original DJ for Sounds Unlimited
One of my earliest recollections of my younger days as a DJ was walking into an Open House at The Dupont
Plaza . The dance started at 8 pm but my father had dropped me off at 7. I was the only one there except for a
few guys putting the finishing touches on Heaven's instruments on stage . Way off in a corner was a huge
console with two reel to reel recorders and more buttons and knobs that I had ever seen in my life in one place(
except on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise )What was this .I wondered, this was a fry cry from my 2 BSR
turntables and my Clubman One which I so proudly took to my $10 parties. Slowly the hall became alive with
people , then a loud hiss , it almost sounded like rain. There was young guy sitting at this console and the decks
were spinning.  A gong shook the hall, then a second one " Open Sesame" said the voice over the speakers that
were strategically placed next to the columns in the hall. Then an explosion of music, the loudest I had ever heard
. Bodies poured onto the dancefloor ,spinning and turning, transforming this plain musty old banquet hall into the
closest thing to a nightclub you could get when you were 15,
Sounds Unlimited provided the pattern for today's mobile DJs before there were even mobile DJs. Julito Faz's
vision of the " portable Discotheque " delievered on all levels and inspired many future  DJ / Producers /Remixers
like myself.
