MAJESTY
Representing "La Ciudad que Progresa "
We did a number of Open Houses at the Hialeah Latin Club, in addition to Milander’s Auditorium (where they also used to hold a bunch of “Bailes Cubanos”), Walker Park, the Ramada (which back then I believe was a Holiday Inn, but I’m not sure), Hialeah High, dances and church carnivals at St. John’s (where the Pastor got upset at us because we played “Sympathy for The Devil”), Immaculate Conception, and Santa Cecilia. We also played a number of times in Miami Springs at the Lion’s Club, the Masonic Temple, the Miami Springs Country Club, Miami Springs Sr. High, and others that my advanced age keeps me from remembering right now, lol. In reality though, we probably played as much around Miami as in Hialeah. We played many times at the Dupont Plaza Hotel, The Everglades Hotel, Electrician’s Hall, Salon Sofia, Iglesia Episcopal (Hall), Club de Las Americas, The PBA, The Deuville Hotel, Our Lady of Lebanon, Miami JaiAlai, Marriot Hotel (on LeJuene), Salon Azul, St. Thomas,.
As far as your earlier question, yes we were known as the “Hialeah Band”, even though I don’t think we ever advertised ourselves that way, I think we were referred to by Enrique de La Masa as “Hialeah’s Own” on his show a number of times (we were frequent guests on his show and many times answered the phone and read dedications on the air during the show). Most of our members were from either Hialeah High, Miami Springs Sr. High, or Hialeah-Miami Lakes High (even though we also had members from Norland High and even from Miami High), and we also had a very large following from the Hialeah/Miami Springs area, so that’s where that came from.

Where you There?
I hope you answered "Yes" to that question!! These
events just keep getting better, the Miami Springs
Country Club was the perfect location ,with a little
history of it's own. The evening started off with yours
truly setting the mood with all those songs that had
you singing along ( Yeah,I saw you) Mantrap hit the
stage around 9:30 after a historical introduction by
your host Mike in the Night . The crowd immediately
rushed towards the stage ,taking pictures and
dancing. The set lasted an amazing two hours, with
Mantrap performing a whole new set of songs and I
took over to a packed and frenzied dancefloor.
Then it was Majesty's turn with their powerful horn
section and energetic combination of funk and dance
tunes of the 70s. Ramon and the guys put on a terrific
show keeping the dancefloor packed from start to
finish. It was another historic night dedicated to
founding member and drummer " Cuco" whose son
sat in on one of Mantrap's songs keeping in a tradition
from way back when.
At around 3am we all rolled into Denny's, as old habits
are hard to break.
I found out later that this was to be founding member
Ramon Mejido's Last performance with the band. He
will be missed ,his direction and old school
professionalism is what gave Majesty it's Class.
