5	Open House Radio Show #5	"November 4th, 2010"	A Very Special Show dedicated to the music of Leroy Gomez and Santa Esmeralda; produced by Open House Radio Group; All Rights Reserved; Mike in the Night and DJ Alex Gutierrez; In 1977 a 16 minute cover of the 1964 Nina Simone classic DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD hit the clubs with a mixture of classical Spanish guitar arrangements behind a disco beat that that fused these elements into a stylish production tailored for the intricate twists and turns of the Disco dancers. Leroy Gomez's passionate vocals together with authentic Spanish hand claps and a powerful brass section allowed the dancers as well as DJs to fully explore the essence of what was a true Classic Disco song in the making. The ever changing landscape of DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD was a welcome change from other records of the time that relied heavily on repetition. Santa Esmeralda's track commanded the listener and the dancer to react to it's constant highs with it's powerful brass hits as well as tender moments when Gomez and the Spanish guitar performed as one beautiful instrument. Most DJs of the time allowed the full16 minutes and 5 seconds to elapse allowing those involved in the romance and excitement of the piece to totally immerse themselves in what has become a Classic of the Disco era. This program reaffirms Leroy Gomez's place in Disco and Music History.
